St. Augustine Sardines Name Caroline Fechtig General Manager
St. Augustine, FL — The St. Augustine Sardines are proud to announce Caroline Fechtig as the organization’s General Manager, ushering in a new era of community-focused baseball built on energy, connection, and memorable fan experiences.
Fechtig steps into the role with a passion for building something special from the ground up and creating a lasting impact both on and off the field.
“What excites me most is the opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up and create a true connection with the community,” said Fechtig. “This isn’t just about baseball, it’s about bringing people together, creating memorable experiences, and giving fans something they can feel proud of. Being able to shape that culture and energy from day one is incredibly special.”
Fans can expect more than just baseball when they visit Sardines games this summer. Fechtig emphasized a focus on delivering a full entertainment experience. “We’re creating a fun, high-energy environment every single game,” she said. “From themed nights to community involvement, we want the ballpark to be a place people want to be all summer long. There will definitely be a nostalgic feel, bringing back that classic summer baseball atmosphere, while still keeping things fresh and exciting.”
At the core, Fechtig remains committed to building a competitive team that reflects the pride of the St. Augustine community. “Of course, fans can also expect a team that plays hard and represents the community the right way,” she added.
The opportunity to lead the Sardines was one that immediately stood out. “I was really drawn to the chance to take on a leadership role where I could make a direct impact,” Fechtig said. “Helping grow a new organization, building relationships with local businesses and families, and being part of something that’s still taking shape was incredibly exciting. The pride in the St. Augustine community is special, and I wanted to help give them another way to showcase that.”
Originally from Long Island, New York, Fechtig grew up immersed in sports, primarily playing softball as a catcher, along with lacrosse and volleyball. Some of her most meaningful memories come from playing at Charles J. Fuschillo Park, a field named after her grandfather, which helped shape her deep personal connection to the game and the importance of community in sports.
Recently relocating to Florida with her family, Fechtig has embraced becoming part of the St. Augustine community. In addition to her role with the Sardines, she works as a 1:1 ESE paraprofessional, further highlighting her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
With a strong foundation in leadership, community engagement, and a lifelong love of sports, Fechtig is poised to lead the Sardines into an exciting inaugural season centered on connection, competition, and creating lasting memories.
The St. Augustine Sardines look forward to an unforgettable summer as they bring a fresh, energetic brand of baseball to one of Florida’s most historic communities.
